Trading via OANDA Crypto is available to those resident in our permitted jurisdictions and aged 18 and over.
To apply for a personal account, visit the OANDA Crypto signup page and enter your details. Once registered, you can complete the application process from our secure online platform.
Our Know Your Customer (KYC) process is an essential part of our onboarding process that helps us ensure that our clients really are who they say they are – it’s in line with the licensing requirements laid out by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) (OANDA Crypto is a trading name of OANDA Coinpass Limited, which is registered with the FCA). To apply for an account, we’ll need to verify your email address, phone number and identity via an automated process. Finally, we’ll conduct a liveness check – you’ll take a selfie, a picture of your most recent ID document (such as your driving licence or passport), and go through a short liveness test video.
You will need to complete a short appropriateness questionnaire to ensure investing in crypto is right for you, and that you fully understand the risk involved in crypto trading. Once you complete the short questionnaire, you’ll have 24 hours to opt-out of opening your account in case you change your mind.
For security purposes, we only allow account modification via email. You’ll need to contact the support team via email or chat, and verify three items of personal information.
On the app or in the site, select Security. Select Password, then Reset Password. Follow the prompts to change your password and confirm.
To secure your account, we use IP address whitelisting technology to flag when a new connection is made to your OANDA Crypto account from a new location – withdrawal requests can only be submitted when the client IP address is included in the IP whitelist.
If we detect a new withdrawal from a new location, we’ll immediately send an email to your inbox to confirm it’s you. Once you click the Verify Now link, the IP Whitelisting page will then be updated and allow crypto/fiat withdrawal requests to be submitted. We’ll then send you an email to confirm that the new IP address has been whitelisted.
If you receive one of these emails and do not recognise this action, please contact support immediately and reset your password as your account details may have become compromised.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) gives you an additional layer of security on your OANDA Crypto account. As well as a strong password, it’s important to use 2FA on any site that holds sensitive, confidential, or financial information.
You can enable 2FA on your account from the 2FA section in your Security Settings – just click or tap on Secure Now. Next, you’ll need to download the Authy app (iOS) or Google Authenticator (Android) onto your mobile device. Scan the QR code and enter the 2FA code on your mobile device.
Click on Secure Account, and you’re all set.
You can do this from the Linked Accounts section of the Wallets page. Just click on Add Card and fill in your card details. You’ll be sent a confirmation email to verify your card and to keep your details safe.
Bank accounts are added when you make a payment using SWIFT or Faster Payment Service (FPS). We do support other deposit methods such as BACS, but additional fees and delays may be incurred. Contact our support team if you require a BACS deposit service.
Go to the Wallets section and select Withdraw. Choose either GBP or EUR, and then choose your bank account. You then need to select the Send Code option – this will send a six-digit code to your registered email address. Enter this code into your selected authenticator and then select Withdraw. Please note that you’ll need to set up two-factor authentication first (2FA). Your bank account will be added when you make a test deposit of £5 or more, or by submitting an updated bank statement to our support email address.
We don’t enforce any transaction limits, but we may ask for updated information if funding volumes exceed £10,000 or withdrawal volumes exceed £100,000 in any given month.
No, you can open only one account with OANDA Crypto.
You can trade crypto via our website, or the OANDA Crypto app, available for iOS and Android.
OANDA Crypto offers a wide range of cryptos to trade, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP and Chainlink. A full list of available assets is available here.
OANDA Crypto supports instant, market and limit orders for all supported crypto trading pairs.
You can place an instant crypto order using the simple interface for quick and easy crypto purchasing and selling. If you're a trader, you can place market and limit orders through the advanced trading screen.
You can cancel an existing limit order that hasn’t been triggered yet. Go to Trade and then Advanced, scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the Open Orders tab to see all your open orders. Select Cancel beside the order you wish to cancel, and the funds allocated to this order will be returned to your account balance.
An instant order is a quick and simple way to swap your fiat currency into crypto and vice versa. An instant order secures the price before the trade takes place, to avoid price slippage. There is a small markup on the trade price to achieve this price guarantee, giving you peace of mind when making an instant order.
When you place a buy limit order at a price lower than the current market price, it’ll be executed at the specified price or a price that’s lower. If it matches up with an existing offsetting order or orders it will execute immediately.
Sell limit orders are placed at a price higher than the current market price. It’s then triggered at the specified price or higher than the specified price.
You can set this up in the Finance section of the app. Just select Auto Trade, then the relevant token, and hit Submit. All future deposits into your account will be automatically traded into the target asset you choose.
Optional: You can also set up a standing order at your bank to automate your crypto investing on a weekly or monthly basis.
Any pending buy limit, sell limit or sell stop orders will be executed even during maintenance hours.
These vary depending on the asset that you want to trade. You’ll find the minimum and maximum order sizes on our fees page – they’re labelled as minimum order size and maximal order size respectively.
There is no maximum position size when trading SPOT markets on OANDA Crypto. You can place orders up to a maximum order size on a per symbol basis. You can find the details on the maximum order size in the instrument information section under Max Order Size.
Trading fees are charged on a tier system basis, determined by your 30-day trading volume. Our full trading fee schedule and tier categories can be found here.
You can fund from or withdraw directly to your UK bank account via the Faster Payments System network (FPS) or SWIFT.

When you buy cryptocurrencies in the spot market, you get immediate delivery – so there’s no financing cost.
Sometimes a change or update is made to the blockchain software that results in a split in the blockchain network – this is called a fork. The result of a fork is that a new second cryptocurrency will be created on that forked blockchain.
Airdrops are when issuers send coins or tokens to wallet addresses of a blockchain community to promote a new cryptocurrency. This might be in return for performing a small service, or it might be for free. OANDA Crypto is not a cryptocurrency or token issuer.
We evaluate forks and airdrops on a case-by-case basis. If such an event occurs, OANDA Crypto has the sole discretion to decide to take any action with or without any advance notice to you. OANDA Crypto has no obligation to take any action.
You can access your dashboard via the OANDA Crypto app.
You can find up-to-the-second live pricing for all crypto tokens under the Markets tab on your dashboard.
The Markets tab is a live pricing page for all assets showing the current price, bid/ask spreads, the highest, and lowest price over the last 24 hours, as well as the percentage change in the value of crypto assets over the same period.
