What is it?
Bitcoin is one of the most popular crypto tokens in the world, and certainly the most famous. It was launched in 2009 by a person or group using the name Satoshi Nakamoto – their actual identity is still unknown. Although it’s complex to mine and generate, trading and investing in Bitcoin is straightforward and can be done via OANDA Crypto with just a few clicks or taps.
Why trade it?
When most people think of cryptocurrencies, they think of Bitcoin. Its enduring popularity makes it a go-to for not just many traders, but also financial transactions outside of fiat currencies.

The first Bitcoin purchase was made on 22nd May 2010 for two pizzas at a cost of 10,000 BTC. At its peak price, that would have been equivalent to nearly $688 million.
